Forest Green unveiled striker Jamille Matt on a one-year deal from Newport County in the summer of 2020.
The 6ft4 front man was a mainstay of County’s side, but the pandemic has led front to an enforced exit of players from Rodney Parade, allowing Head Coach Mark Cooper to pounce.
The 30-year-old Jamaican-born striker was an influential figure for County since signing in the summer of 2018 from Blackpool, amassing 97 appearances for Mike Flynn’s side.
He formed a potent partnership with Padraig Amond and scored 20 goals in his first season in Wales, including the powerful header in the famous FA Cup win against Leicester when he climbed above Wes Morgan.
