Forest Green Rovers are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Will Grigg on a free transfer from Chesterfield. The 35-year-old has signed a deal at The New Lawn running until June 2028.
The striker brings a wealth of experience to GL6, with over 500 EFL appearances across spells at Walsall, Brentford, MK Dons, Wigan Athletic, Sunderland and Rotherham United. The prolific scorer has also bagged 192 goals across his career.
While at Wigan, Grigg famously scored the only goal of the game as the Latics knocked Manchester City out of the FA Cup in 2018.
Grigg made his senior debut for Northern Ireland in 2012 and has gone on to earn 12 caps, scoring three goals.
More recently, Grigg made over 100 appearances and scored 43 goals for Chesterfield between 2023 and 2026. Rovers’ new signing was also a part of the Spireites’ National League-winning side in 2024.
Will takes the number 31 shirt and has joined up with the Rovers squad immediately and will be in contention for the squad travelling to Barrow.
