Despite a late set-back against Morecambe on Tuesday night,
FGR boss Mark Cooper is confident his side have what it takes to take on an
energetic Harrogate Town.
The League Two new-boys have found an impressive run of form
in recent weeks, winning four of their last five and propelling them to within
touching distance of the play-off spots.
“Harrogate have always played with plenty of energy and desire,”
explained Cooper.
“Once you have that platform, with some quality on top, it
gives you a very good opportunity to win games on a regular basis.
“We’re very aware of Harrogate and how good they are on the
front foot. We know they’ll come after us on Saturday.
“They’ve been doing really well recently, and have put
together some form. Josh March has helped them, which was always the plan, but unfortunately,
he’s picked up an injury.”
While attentions are always turned to the opposition, focus,
as ever, remains within the Rovers camp.
“I’m only interested in what we do, and that is to try and
prepare well for every game,” reiterated the Forest Green Head Coach.
“We need to play with as much energy as we can and respect
the opposition. If we take care of our stuff, we have a chance.
“I’ve got faith in the players we’ve got here. I trust them
and I know exactly what to expect when I send them out to battle.”
In recent weeks, Cooper has known exactly what to expect
from one of his players in particular. Jamille Matt.
“Jamma is now playing in a team that creates a lot of
chances, and good chances for him,” he said.
“We get good balls in and around the six-yard box, and most
of his goals have come from that area.
“He has to get himself in there which he has done really
well, so credit to him and credit to the boys who have put the balls in the
right area for him.”
We know we have to win some personal battles.
