"We can't wait to get back out there," Cadden

There will have been few more frustrated at last month’s abandoned fixture than Nicky Cadden, the Scotsman having fired Rovers ahead at a snow-covered innocent New Lawn against tonight’s opponents.

Oldham Athletic pulled one back shortly before the break, but with visibility decreasing by the minute it was only a matter of time before the fog brought the game to an early conclusion, taking Cadden’s goal with it.

Perhaps that has been part of the motivation behind an impressive run of form.

“The boys say I was angry at it being chalked off so that’s why I went on a run and started to score goals,” joked Cadden.

“I think it was just one of those spells where every time I shot it went it. It was a good period.

“The last month has been good for me and the whole team, long may it continue.

“I really enjoy the attacking side of my game, and I think I’ve clicked well with Baily Cargill since his arrival. He’s a great player and very sound defensively.

“He likes to get up the left and overlap, and ‘Dokes’ does the same on the other side.”

Paragraph Break

While the 24-year-old’s form has been consistent, the fixtures have been far from it, Rovers having seen their last two matches postponed due to the adverse February weather.

“All the boys can’t wait to get back out there. It’s been two weeks now since the game at Carlisle United, we wanted to keep the momentum going,” explained Cadden.

“We live in the United Kingdom, it’s not exactly Spain or Italy where it’s always sunny so the cold weather will always come around.

“We need to deal with it and when it drops to minus six like it did on Friday there is nothing you can do. It affects everyone.

“The boys are in a good place and the spirit is high in training.”

End Stop

Hopefully we can start well tonight, like we did against Carlisle, and get the three points.
