A look at our opponents on Good Friday

All you need to know about Friday's visitors

March 28th 2024Sam Yapp

It’s a busy Easter weekend of action for Rovers which starts at The New Lawn on Friday as we welcome Stockport County for our League Two clash.

Rovers welcome the Hatters to TNL for the first time since 2012 and will be looking to get the better of our visitors who ran out 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture.

Ahead of this encounter, here is everything you need to know from the dugout to players to watch.

IN THE DUGOUT - DAVE CHALLINOR

Success and promotion battles is something Challinor is no stranger to as the 48-year-old has never finished lower than fourth in his three years at the club.

Challinor dropped out of the EFL in 2021 to take charge of the Hatters in the National League guiding them to the title and promotion back to the Football League for the first time in over a decade.

In their first season back in the fourth tier, Challinor lead his side to a play-off finish but fell short losing to Carlisle United on penalties in the play-off final at Wembley.

Fast-forward almost 12 months, Challinor and his side continue their hunt for League One football as they currently sit second in the automatic promotion places.

PLAYER TO WATCH - ISAAC OLAOFE

Since joining Challinor’s side in January of last year, Olaofe has been one of the focal points in the Hatters success in recent times.

That has echoed this season as the 24-year-old stands as the clubs top scorer and the league’s joint-fourth top scorer with 19 league goals (20 in all competitions).

Olaofe has been in fine form netting in six of his last 11 appearances and will want to carry that momentum into Friday as he looks to become the fourth player to reach 20 goals in the league.

JANUARY BUISNESS

The winter transfer window saw the Hatters have a defensive overhaul as three new defensive players entered the club ahead of their push for promotion and the League Two title.

Challinor looked towards the US for his first signing by bringing in defender Ethan Bristow on loan from MLS side Minnesota United.

Rhys Bennett joined on loan from Premier League side Manchester United and Lewis Cass was a deadline-day loan capture from League One side Port Vale to complete the defensive shuffle.
