"Stevenage are a resilient group," Cooper

March 2nd 2021Noah Dougherty

Ahead of tonight’s trip to Stevenage in League Two, Head Coach
Mark Cooper reiterated the confidence he has in his squad.

Despite injuries troubles, the FGR boss is confident that the
strength in depth he has in his side will be enough to tackle a ‘resilient’
Boro.

“They’ve got quite a lot of experienced players and they’re
on a good run of late,” said Cooper.

“Like I say every game, there’s no gimmies in this league,
you have to earn every point you get and be right at it.

“They played five at the back on Saturday at Newport which
makes complete sense because you know there’ll be a lot of balls coming
forward. They have been playing 4-4-2 in their previous games, so we think
they’ll revert back to that because they’ve done quite well.

“You’ve got to run more than the opposition, win all your
personal battles and hope that your quality comes through. We’re aware that
Stevenage are a resilient group and we’ll have to play well to get any kind of
result.”

With injury problems striking through the spine of the team,
and Nicky Cadden tweaking his hamstring on Saturday, Rovers will again have to show
how adaptable they can be.

“We have to move things around but we have good enough
players to be able to deal with it. We’re looking forward to it,” explained the
Head Coach.

“It’s another challenge for us. We’ll have to be creative
with some bits and pieces, but I’ve got faith that the players can get another
result.

“Isaac Hutchinson started against Southend as well as
Tranmere. We’ve got some good players in the middle of the pitch. Scott
Wagstaff, Elliott Whitehouse, Ebou Adams and Odin Bailey who can all play in
that position too.

“It’s a fight to earn the shirt in the middle of the pitch. Everyone
has got to keep training hard and wait for their opportunity.”

I’ve got faith that the players can get another result.
