Forest Green Rovers are delighted to announce the signing of left-back Ryan Rydel from Stockport County on loan until the first week of January.
The 25-year-old joins the squad immediately and is available for selection for this weekend’s FA Cup First Round Proper away tie at Luton Town.
After rising through the academy ranks at Fleetwood Town, Rydel made his professional debut in September 2018 against Southend United. He went on to make 18 further appearances for ‘The Cod Army’ and had a brief loan spell with Lancaster City in 2020.
He joined Stockport in April 2021 and became an integral part of ‘County’s’ rise from the National League to the Football League. He scored a late winner against Wrexham in the 2021/22 campaign, which ended with Stockport crowned National League champions. That season he also won the club’s Young Player of the Year award, producing 14 assists from the left flank in 36 appearances.
Rydel has since passed 100 appearances for Stockport, whilst having a short spell with Exeter City last season.
Ryan will wear the number 32 shirt, and we invite you to join us in welcoming him to GL6.
