Forest Green Rovers are delighted to announce the signing of forward Ricardo Rees on a permanent transfer from National League North side Merthyr Town for an undisclosed fee.

The Welsh striker joins Rovers following a prolific campaign so far this season, scoring 25 goals in 23 league appearances during his time with Merthyr Town in the National League North. His goals have helped the side sit third at this stage of the campaign.

Rees scored 38 goals in the 2023/24 season with the Welsh side, followed by another impressive 33 goals in the 2024/45 season.

Rees knows the South West well after short spells with Yate Town and Bath City, as well as graduating from the Bristol City U23 academy at the start of his career.

Rovers fended off interest from several English Football League clubs to secure the striker’s signature, and manager Robbie Savage is absolutely delighted to have added Rees to his squad.

Ricardo will wear the number 45 shirt at GL6 and will be available for selection ahead of our National League fixture against FC Halifax Town on Saturday, 3 January, at The New Lawn.
