Rovers back Enterprise’s Charity Football Tournament

Level 1 Enterprise (Stroud) hosted their highly anticipated charity football tournament on Sunday 13th June, and welcomed nine local football teams to Stratford Park to show off their skills.

Enterprise, Bayer Neverlusen and Arthur’s Angels were the student and staff teams representing SGS College, competing against Ecotricity, The Mud Men, Hucclecote Patriots, Hucclecote Wanderers, Quedgeley Whites and Quedgeley Reds.

In the scorching heat, it was the Quedgeley teams who made it to the final and went head-to-head in a Gloucester showdown to win the trophies and kit donated by Forest Green Rovers. 

Level 1 Enterprise students have been busy planning this tournament since January, facing the challenges of another national lockdown and a cancelled tournament date along the way.

The students worked closely with their generous sponsors Forest Green Rovers who provided stunning football kits for the winners, Everyone Active at Stratford Park who provided the AstroTurf pitches for the tournament, and Waitrose Stroud who supplied delicious snacks and refreshments for the players and spectators, keeping everyone hydrated.

The tournament was in aid of Cancer Research UK, a very personal charity chosen by the learners. A total of £436 was raised on the day which was a huge success for the Stroud Team!
