The Club are delighted to add Rob Edwards to the coaching staff as a first-team coach.

The 51-year-old had an enjoyable playing career spanning 21 years between 1990-2011.

He started out with Carlisle United before moving to the south-west in 1991 to join Bristol City.

He made over 200 appearances for City before returning to the north-west for spells with Preston North End and Blackpool.

In 2006, he moved to Devon with Exeter City where he spent a further five years making 160 appearances and began a coaching role after he called time on his playing days at the Grecians.

Edwards was also capped four times by his national side Wales.

He had his first taste at first-team management at Tranmere Rovers in 2014 before becoming assistant manager at Cheltenham Town in the same year.

He’s spent six years in the Welsh FA with Edwards’ most recent job role was as manager of Wales U19s.

Edwards adds further experience to the coaching staff here at The New Lawn having added Wayne Brown as a goalkeeping coach last week.

On his arrival, Edwards said: “I’m delighted to be joining Forest Green in what looks set to be an exciting season.

“I’ve loved my time with Wales but it’s time for a new challenge and FGR poses a fantastic opportunity."
