Joe Grey almost opened the scoring for the hosts with a low driven effort just past Ted Cann's post from the edge of the penalty area.

Tom Knowles went close a minute later but his effort went just the wrong side of the post.

Nathan Sheron pounced on the loose ball and struck an effort towards goal but Cann was able to see the effort over the crossbar.

Pools took the lead through after Reyes Cleary got to the byline and delivered a low cross for Ferguson who finished smartly.

Soon after the break, Jenks forced Smith into a smart stop down to his right after a strike from distance.

Rovers pressed late on and found an equaliser after an excellent cushioned header by Joe Quigley was nodded home by Doidge.
