Forest Green made it two wins from two in the National League Cup with a 3-2 win over Wolves U21s at The New Lawn.

Goals from Jose Marquez, Isaac Moore, and Harry Cardwell were enough for victory on the evening with Mateus Mane and Dani Angel on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Marquez struck the first effort on target in the early stages but Wolves shot-stopper Arthur Nasta was there to save.

Rovers 'keeper Fiachra Pagel then made an excellent fingertip save to deny Caden Voice on the rebound after Leo Lopes' header came back out off the crossbar.

Pagel had to be smart to deny Ethan Sutherland's low effort heading for the bottom corner soon after.

Thomas Conteh crossed low for Marquez but his strike came back out off the upright as Rovers began to create the better chances.

Marquez did get his goal on the cusp of half-time when he headed home Jayden Clarke's outswinging corner into the corner of the net.

Just a minute into the second half, Clarke and Harry Cardwell both went close, the former slid his effort just wide of the post whilst Cardwell was denied by Nasta low down.

Fletcher Holman almost equalised for the visitors but his right-footed strike rose over Pagel's crossbar.

Mane did get Wolves back on level terms on 52 minutes with a smart finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

He could've given the visitors the lead but Pagel was down smartly to deny the forward one-on-one.

Moore got Rovers back in front just after the hour mark after a smart one-two before the midfielder finished well past Nasta despite his best efforts.

Cardwell made it three after a flowing Rovers move found the forward in space down the left, before he calmly slotted home into the bottom corner.

Angel got one back for Wolves in the closing stages with a smart finish past Pagel but Rovers took the points.
