Forest Green and York City played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in the televised late-kick off on Saturday evening in the Enterprise National League.

Kairo Mitchell's early strike was cancelled out by Ollie Pearce's penalty just nine minutes later.

Rovers made a flying start after Tre Pemberton's cross found forward Mitchell inside the penalty area - he took a touch round his marker and fired into the bottom corner of the net.

He almost doubled the lead minutes later after Jordan Moore-Taylor nodded into the front man, but he struck over the crossbar.

York responded on 13 minutes from the penalty spot after Joe Felix was brought down in the area, with Pearce finding the back of the net from 12 yards.

Rovers broke quickly through Whitwell, he teed up Nick Haughton to strike but City 'keeper Harrison Male saved with his feet.

Soon after, Haughton had another strike - this time a curling effort that was cleared off the line by Malachi Fagan-Walcott.

City created two good chances before the break, Joe Grey's low effort going just past the upright, whilst Tyrese Sinclair had his strike headed off the line by Ryan Inniss in spectacular fashion.

Rovers came inches away from restoring the lead with half-time substitute Jili Buyabu finding Pemberton but his effort came back out off the crossbar.

Pearce forced McNicholas into action with a low volley but the Rovers shot-stopper was down smartly.

Both sides pressed for the third goal in the game, Pearce again giving McNicholas work to do with a low save whilst Mitchell headed Buyabu's powerful cross over the top.

The spoils were shared despite Rovers' late charge as we continue our unbeaten start to the season.
