Forest Green stayed top of the Enterprise National League table with a solid away win at Altrincham on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Nick Haughton and Ryan Inniss were crucial in gaining three points whilst Kahrel Reddin scored for the hosts.
The hosts started brightly with a couple of efforts inside the opening five or so minutes - Olly Crankshaw fired wide whilst Lewis Banks struck over the crossbar from the edge of the area.
Rovers created chances of their own with Nick Haughton forcing Alty 'keeper Luke Hutchinson into a string of fine saves.
Firstly, he struck low following Kyle McAllister's deft pass over the top, and also forced Hutchinson into a smart low save where he parried away from immediate danger.
The influential midfielder did give Rovers the lead on 27 minutes with a superb free-kick from just shy of 25 yards despite Hutchinson's best efforts who could only tip onto the post and into the net.
Altrincham equalised through Reddin, he swept home from inside the penalty area following an accurate cross by Tylor Golden.
Half-time: Altrincham 1-1 Forest Green
Soon after the break, forward Kairo Mitchell showed some neat footwork to gain half a yard to strike low but Hutchinson made another top save for the hosts.
Golden was shown a red following an incident in the 62nd minute - he brought down McAllister and the referee pulled out a red card to send the hosts down to 10.
Jayden Clarke weaved through a couple of challenges but 'keeper Hutchinson was out smartly to smother the effort.
Rovers went ahead with just under a quarter of an hour to play with Clarke's dangerous corner headed home powerfully by Inniss and Rovers defended resolutely in the closing stages to take the points.
