Forest Green Rovers travel to high-flying York City tomorrow afternoon looking to make it consecutive victories in the National League.

Rovers picked up all three points at The New Lawn on Tuesday night, seeing off a spirited Woking team 4-2.

Goals from Gabe Kircough, Nick Haughton, Ricardo Rees and Tom Knowles secured the victory for Robbie Savage’s side.

Ahead of tomorrow’s clash, here is everything you need to know about our opponents.

The Opposition: York City

Nickname: ‘The Minstermen’

League Position: 2nd

York City have had an impressive campaign to date, currently sitting 2nd in the league table and just two points off the summit. Despite an unbeaten start in their opening four games, the club parted company with former Manager Adam Hinshelwood. The club didn’t taste defeat in the league until the end of September, when they were defeated 1-0 by 10-man Solihull Moors at home.

The Minstermen are currently on an 18-match unbeaten run in the league, with their last defeat occurring all the way back on the 1st of October to Scunthorpe United, their only other defeat this season. In their last three games, they have scored an impressive 10 goals and kept three clean sheets, highlighting the superb run of form the club are currently on.

The two sides met back in September, which ended the spoils being shared in a 1-1 draw. It is set to be another intriguing encounter between two forward-thinking sides.

Paragraph Break

The Manager: Stuart Maynard

Stuart Maynard is the current man in the dugout for York City.

Maynard was appointed after the Minstermen sacked former manager Adam Hinshelwood at the end of August 2025, despite beginning the season unbeaten with one win and three draws in his four games in charge.

Maynard was most recently with League Two side Notts County but was sacked at the end of last season after a League Two Play-Off semi-final defeat to AFC Wimbledon.

The club have been on a superb run since he was charged and is currently the closest rivals to league leaders Rochdale.

The 45-year-old will be hoping his side can continue their remarkable run of form tomorrow afternoon.

Player To Watch: Ollie Pearce

It will come as no surprise to National League fans that Ollie Pearce is York’s player to watch.

The striker has had a tremendous campaign, scoring 26 goals in 29 games played, making him the top scorer in the league by 11 goals.

He also has six assists to his name in that time, highlighting how the 30-year-old can provide as well as score.

The forward was the top-scorer in the league last season, scoring a total of 31 goals, a number he looks set to pass this season if he carries on in his current vein of form.

A player who certainly knows where the back of the net is, Rovers will need to keep a close eye on Pearce in and around the penalty area.
