Rovers will be looking to continue to improve their away record with a trip to face Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium this evening.
“Stevenage played five at the back on Saturday at Newport which makes complete sense because you know there’ll be a lot of balls coming forward,” explained Mark Cooper.
“They have been playing 4-4-2 in their previous games, so we think they’ll revert back to that because they’ve done quite well.
“You’ve got to run more than the opposition, win all your personal battles and hope that your quality comes through. We’re aware that Stevenage are a resilient group and we’ll have to play well to get any kind of result.”
Chris Stokes is recovering well from his thigh strain, but Jordan Moore-Taylor and Nicky Cadden have already been ruled out of this one. Dan Sweeney remains sidelined with a long-term injury.
Elliott List joined Stevenage in 2019, signing from EFL League One side Gillingham.
The 23 year-old forward started his youth career at Crystal Palace, before joining Gillingham in 2015. Initially, List was loaned out to Braintree Town in 2015 and then went on to make 85 appearances for the Gills, scoring 7 goals, notably scoring the only goal in a 1–0 victory over Premier League Cardiff City in the FA Cup third round.
He has seven goals and two assists this season.
Jake Young's first-half thunderbolt maintained Forest Green's unbeaten start to the season as Rovers claimed a 1-0 home win over Stevenage in mid-October.
The former Sheffield United teenager scored his first senior goal in league football as he fired a 23rd-minute strike beyond Jamie Cumming after Aaron Collins threaded him through.
The two sides have met an incredible 34 times, first clashing in August of 1998 as Stevenage ran out 2-1 winners in the Conference.
Since then, the Hertfordshire side have chalked up a further 12 victories while FGR have won eight.
13 of the encounters have ended honours even, including both of last season’s meetings which passed without the ball hitting either net.
