Preview: Stevenage (A)

September 17th 2021Noah Dougherty

We travel to Stevenage tomorrow as the two sides meet on a Saturday for the first time since January 2019.

Rovers are coming into this one on the back of a 1-0 win over Northampton Town, while the Boro fell to defeat at Sutton United.

What we said:

Northampton-home-Sept-21-Edwards-2

"It should be another good game. We've had a good week's preparation and it should be a difficult game for both teams," said Rob Edwards.

"Stevenage started the season well with a couple of wins. The results have been a bit up and down recently, but I like the way they play.

"Thank you in advance to those making the journey tomorrow, hopefully we can put on a performance that you can be proud of."

Team News:

Rovers have no fresh injury concerns ahead of this one, though Baily Cargill remains absent. Ebou Adams is again available for selection after serving his suspension.

Key Player: Elliott List

Elliott-List-Stevenage

Elliott List joined Stevenage in 2019, signing from EFL League One side Gillingham....

The 23 year-old forward started his youth career at Crystal Palace, before joining Gillingham in 2015. Initially, List was loaned out to Braintree Town in 2015 and then went on to make 85 appearances for the Gills, scoring 7 goals, notably scoring the only goal in a 1–0  victory over Premier League Cardiff City in the FA Cup third round. List then joined Stevenage in 2019 and in his debut season, played 21 times, scoring twice.

He has four goals this season.

Paragraph Break

Last time we met:

Forest Green Rovers fell to a 3-0 defeat at Stevenage's Lamex Stadium, as a Danny Newton Brace and an Elliott List strike sealed the points.

Rovers found themselves 2-0 down at the break, despite an impressive attacking display, and the hosts made sure of the points with a little over an hour on the clock.

Head-to-head:

The two sides have met an impressive 35 times, yes, THIRTY FIVE.

Stevenage hold the advantage over the years with 14 wins, sharing the spoils a further 13 times.

Rovers have eight wins in the fixture, but have lost just once in the last eight fixtures, winning four.
