National League football returns to The New Lawn on Saturday afternoon as Forest Green Rovers take on Yeovil Town.
After picking up their first point of the season on our travels last weekend, Rovers will be looking to start their home campaign with a positive result.
Ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s clash, here is all you need to know about our opponents.
The Opposition: Yeovil Town
Nickname: ‘The Glovers’
League Position: 14th
Yeovil returned to the National League at the first time of asking in the 2023/24 season after suffering relegation to the National League South the season prior.
Like Rovers, the Glovers became a Football League side for the first time this century after winning the Conference in the 2002/03 season. The club would reach the Championship in 2013 after winning the League One Play-Off Final; which is considered one of the greatest days in the club’s 130-year history.
They would go on to suffer back to back relegations before their 16-year spell in the Football League was ended in 2019.
In The Dugout: Mark Cooper
A name which Rovers fans will be extremely familiar with, former FGR boss Mark Cooper is at the helm with the Glovers.
Cooper was appointed as manager of Yeovil back in October 2022 and suffered relegation in his first campaign to the National League South.
However, Cooper and his side would bounce back to the National League at the first time of asking, winning the league by 11 points.
The 56-year-old guided the club to an 18th-placed finish in their first year back and after several recruitments this Summer, will be hoping to build on that this season.
Player To Watch: Jed Ward
Former Rovers keeper Jed Ward joined Yeovil on a season-long loan from League Two side Bristol Rovers on August 1st 2025.
During his spell at The New Lawn in the 2024/25 season, Ward made 28 appearances for Rovers before being recalled by Bristol Rovers in early February.
The 22-year-old kept an impressive 10 clean sheets in the first half of last campaign and already has one to his name in the new season.
His shot-stopping ability and impressive distribution are two strong attributes the 22-year-old possess.
Welcome back Jed!
