Forest Green Rovers will be looking to make it successive National League victories tomorrow evening as they take on Sutton United at The New Lawn.
Rovers picked up their first three points of the season on Saturday afternoon with a convincing 2-0 victory over Yeovil Town.
Ahead of tomorrow night’s fixture, here is everything you need to know about our opponents.
The Opposition: Sutton United
Nickname: ‘The U’s’
League Position: 15th
Another side who reached the Football League for the first time in their club’s history this century, The U’s lifted the National League title in the 2020/21 season.
After three seasons in League Two, the South London side would drop back into the National League in the 2023/24 season, alongside Rovers.
They finished 12th in their first campaign back at the level and will be looking to build on this after recruiting 15 players this summer.
So far this season, they have picked up two points from their opening two games; a 2-2 draw away to York City on the opening day and a goalless draw at home to Solihull Moors on Saturday.
In The Dugout: Steve Morison
Former Leeds United, Norwich City and Millwall striker Steve Morison is the man in the dugout for Sutton United.
Having scored a number of goals across England’s top four divisions, Morison announced his retirement from the game in 2019.
Having gained experience in youth roles with Northampton Town and Cardiff City, the 41-year-old would make the step up into senior management with the Bluebirds in 2021.
After his departure in 2022, Morison would have a brief spell in charge of Hornchurch before being announced as Sutton United Manager in January 2024.
Player To Watch: Ashley Nadesan
Forward Ashley Nadesan returned to The U’s on a permanent basis this summer after a successful loan from Gillingham FC last season.
Nadesan would grab an impressive 16 goal contributions during his loan last campaign; finding the back of the net on eight occasions as well as providing eight assists.
After his release from the Gills in May, United moved quick to acquire the 30-year-old’s service for another season.
Known for his speed and movement in and around the box, Rovers will have to be aware of the quality the striker possesses.
