Forest Green Rovers return to The New Lawn tomorrow afternoon to take on Eastleigh after Saturday’s impressive away victory at Halifax.
Rovers currently sit top of the National League making an impressive start to their campaign; picking up 10 points from their opening four league games.
Ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s clash, here is everything you need to know about our opposition.
The Opposition: Eastleigh
Nickname: ‘The Spitfires’
League Position: 10th
After suffering defeats in their opening two National League fixtures, Eastleigh kick-started their season this week with victories away at Aldershot and at home to Boston United.
The Spitfires have been consistent performers at the level for over a decade after their promotion from the National League South in the 2014/15 season. After successive 13th placed finishes in the National League, the club will be looking to kick on this campaign.
Player To Watch: Aaron Rudy Blair
Forward Blair is another player who joined Eastleigh this Summer after departing National League South side Maidstone United.
The 25-year-old had an impressive campaign with the Stones, finding the back of the net 20 times in the 2024/25 season, with the club missing out on promotion back to the National League in the NLS Play-Off Final.
Blair has made a strong start to life as a Spitfire, scoring in the win at Aldershot and grabbing both goals in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Boston.
Known for his pace and finishing ability, Rovers will have to be aware of the quality the forward possesses.
In The Dugout: Kelvin Davis
Former Southampton keeper Kelvin Davis is the man in the dugout for Eastleigh.
Davis featured for seven different clubs across a playing career which lasted 22 years before retiring in 2016.
The 48-year-old became first team coach of Southampton in 2017, a role he would fulfil until May 2022.
He would be announced as Eastleigh’s Manager in February 2024, after the departure of former Spitfires boss Richard Hill by mutual consent.
He has guided the club to consecutive 13th-placed finishes and will he hoping to build on that this campaign.
