National League leaders Forest Green Rovers are back on the road tomorrow night as they travel to the J Davidson Stadium to take on Altrincham.
Rovers extended their unbeaten start in the league to 10 games on Saturday after a convincing 2-0 victory over Woking.
Ahead of Tuesday’s clash, here is everything you need to know about our opposition.
The Opposition - Altrincham
Nickname: ‘The Robins’
League Position: 13th
Altrincham have made a respectable start to their National League campaign, picking up 12 points from their opening 10 games. The Robins are one of only two sides yet to draw a game so far this season (four victories and six defeats). They have suffered defeat in their last two games as well as finishing both with 10 men, receiving a red card in both matches.
It is the club’s sixth season back in the league after being promoted from the National League North in 2020 via the Play Offs. After their second season back at the level, the club transitioned to a full-time status for the first time in their history. In the 2023/24 season, Altrincham achieved the club’s highest ever league position, finishing fourth and were defeated by Bromley in the Play Off semi-finals.
In The Dugout - Phil Parkinson
Manager Phil Parkinson is currently in his ninth full campaign in charge of Altrincham.
Parkinson joined the club all the way back in April 2017, leaving Nantwich Town to join the Robins.
The 44-year-old has overseen two promotions during his time with the club.
In his first full season at the helm, the club returned to the National League North at the first time of asking.
Parkinson then guided the club back to the National League in the 2019/20 season where they have been since.
After back-to-back top half finishes, Parkinson will be looking to continue the club’s progress in the league.
Player To Watch: Jimmy Knowles
Striker Jimmy Knowles joined Altrincham in the Summer from League Two side Accrington Stanley.
Knowles spent the second half of last season on loan at former club Boston United, where he scored four goals in 18 appearances.
The 23-year-old has made an impressive start to this campaign, finding the back of the net on five occasions and assisting twice in his opening 10 league games.
The forward has scored in his last three games and is currently the joint fifth top goal-scorer in the division.
A player in a great run of form, Rovers will have to keep a close eye on Knowles in and around the box.
Head-To-Head:
Rovers are unbeaten in their last seven fixtures against the Robins and will be looking to extend that run even further against Tuesday night's opponents.
