FGR Preview- Altrincham (H)

Forest Green Rovers will be looking to make it five games unbeaten in all competitions tomorrow night as they host Altrincham at The New Lawn in the National League.

Rovers were denied all three points at Sutton on the weekend, with the hosts grabbing an equaliser late on.

Robbie Savage will be hoping his side can add another three points to their tally and maintain the pace towards the top end of the table.

Ahead of kick-off, here is everything you need to know about our opponents.

The Opposition: Altrincham

League Position: 19th

Nickname: ‘The Robins’

Altrincham have had a fairly disappointing campaign to date, currently sitting 19th in the league table and just two points above the bottom four.

They made a solid start to the season, picking up four wins in their opening eight league games. However, after their win over Sutton at the start of September, the club went on an eight-game winless run in the league, seeing them drop down the table.

The Robins are on another poor run of form, having not picked up a point in the league since the end of November, losing five games on the spin.

The two clubs met back in September, where Rovers came away from the J Davidson Stadium with all three points after a 2-1 victory on the road. A superb Nick Haughton free-kick opened the scoring before Kahrel Reddin equalised for the Robins before the break.

A red card for Tylor Golden just after the hour mark meant Altrincham had to play the remainder of the match down to ten, and Rovers made the extra man count 14 minutes from time through a Ryan Inniss header.

Rovers will be hoping for a similar result this afternoon and complete a league double over the Greater Manchester-based side.

The Manager: Neil Gibson

Neil Gibson is the current man in the dugout for Altrincham.

Gibson was appointed back at the end of November, after former Manager Phil Parkinson was sacked after a seven-game winless run.

The 46-year-old made a major impact when he first came in, picking up 10 points from a possible 15 in his opening five games, seeing the club climb the table.

However, the Robins have hit another concerning run of form, having lost five on the spin in the league and dropping back down in the wrong direction.

Gibson will be hoping his side can end this torrid run at The New Lawn tonight and pick up their first points since November.

Player To Watch: Kahrel Reddin

Kahrel Reddin has caught the eye for Altrincham this year despite the club’s disappointing campaign. Reddin joined the club back in the Summer of 2024 after a successful trial period.

The 22-year-old has found the back of the net on three occasions, including his goal against `Rovers earlier in the campaign.

He also has three assists to his name this season and is a constant threat on the wing.

Rovers will need to be aware of the attacker’s threats in and around the box, knowing the quality the winger possesses.
