A rewarding day of giving back to our local community. 💚
As part of the FGR Ambassador Scheme, proudly supported by our partner, Grundon, more than 40 people headed to Miles Marling Field, just a few hundred yards from the stadium, to help clean up the area ahead of the summer holidays.
Thanks to our partners, FGR Community and volunteers enjoyed a plant-based picnic, with children and parents able to make their own rolls using the new Quorn deli slices. Green Cola provided drinks to keep all our volunteers refreshed, while Bramley’s supplied fresh fruit and salad to help replenish their efforts.
Grundon also brought along their own volunteers and children, with the group making their way down to Lawnside Park to help collect litter there too.
Harry Crockett, Social Value Co-ordinator, said this: “We had an amazing time with our colleagues, the young ambassadors and their families! Matching their enthusiasm, we managed to clean two parks!”
The overall items found were metal, items from cars, glass bottles, cans, sweet wrappers, crisp packets and cigarette butts; a wide range of waste was collected.
In total, 6kg of waste was removed from our local parks, helping to make these spaces cleaner and more enjoyable for the community this summer.
Head of FGR Community, Richard Branigan, also added: "What a day! A huge well done to our School Ambassadors, who did a brilliant job at our picnic in the park and litter-picking event, helping to make our local community cleaner, greener and more welcoming.
It was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate our ongoing work with Grundon and thank them for their continued support of our joint litter-picking project. From cleaner parks and less waste to stronger community bonds and a new generation of environmentally-minded young people, the benefits speak for themselves.
