Forest Green Rovers renews partnership with Memorial Woodlands
Bristol Memorial Woodlands has renewed its partnership with the world’s greenest football team, continuing its relationship as a Community Partner with Forest Green Rovers.
Having signed up for the 2026 / 27 season with the Nailsworth-based club, the deal, which is in its fourth year, will see both parties working together on encouraging people to think about the environmental impact of funerals.
Christopher Baker, founder of Bristol Memorial Woodlands, said: “Sustainability is at the core of everything at Forest Green Rovers. The club is famous throughout the world for continuously trying to push the boundaries of environmental consciousness and is known as the greenest football club in the world.
“That ethos fits well with our own aim to create a 100-acre woodland and make funerals more environmentally friendly through traditional burial that will have a lasting environmental benefit.
“Our team are working alongside the community team at FGR and exploring ways that our partnership can develop to further support families that follow the football team.”

The Partnership between us is a perfect fit around sustainability and community, and I look forward to developing and growing this over the coming season.”
Providing an alternative to the fleeting experience of a funeral at a crematorium, Bristol Memorial Woodlands is transforming what was a dairy farm in South Gloucestershire into a peaceful place where future generations can visit and enjoy the natural environment amongst native British trees that are planted in remembrance.
The future woodlands will be managed by Bristol Memorial Woodland Trust, a registered charity which has produced free resources that are available online and in print to help people with end-of-life planning and with practical and emotional support through grief.
