Rovers travel to the north west to face Morecambe

April 18th 2024Sam Yapp

Following Tuesday night’s confirmation of our relegation from League Two, Rovers travel to Morecambe for our final away day of the season looking to end the campaign on a high.

Rovers fell to a 2-1 defeat the last time the two sides met back in September which saw Tyrese Omotoye get on the scoresheet for Rovers.

Ahead of our trip to the Mazuma Stadium here is everything fans need to know from the dugout to players to watch out for.

IN THE DUGOUT - GED BRANNAN

The Shrimps has been Brannan’s first managerial role after taking the helm back in November following the departure of Derek Adams.

The 52-year-old was promoted from Assistant Manager after just over two months in the job and has experienced a mixed bag of results in his time so far.

Saturday will mark his game number 30 as Shrimps manager which, up to this point, has seen Brannan pick up 10 victories, six draws and 13 defeats in all competitions.

PLAYER TO WATCH - CHARLIE BROWN

With the Shrimps struggling in front of goal in recent matches, their most prolific player has been attacker Charlie Brown.

His side are without a goal in their last three matches, but Brown has picked up two goals and two assists in his last six matches, the most by any Shrimps player.

That brings his tally up to five goals for the season in all competitions but is ending the season strong and might look to add to his numbers.

JANUARY BUISNESS

It was a busy January transfer window for the Shrimps who saw eight new signings through the door.

Attacker Gwion Edwards, goalkeeper Archie Mair, midfielder Joe Adams, striker Ged Garner and midfielder Nelson Khumbeni were the pick of the bunch with all becoming regulars in Brannan’s squad.

The Shrimps suffered a blow in the window when top scorer Michael Mellon was recalled by parent club Burnley so he could complete a move on loan to Scottish side Dundee.
