Forest Green Rovers were delighted to welcome children from Robinswood Primary School to The New Lawn last Tuesday night for our Checkatrade Trophy fixture with Arsenal U23s.

As part of a scheme with the EFL Trust and Checkatrade, 36 children attended the game, with 20 getting free tickets from the competition sponsors.

Robinswood Primary is situated in an area of high social deprivation in Gloucester and have recently started a girls’ football club and are trying to inspire young girls to keep active and engage in football with the help of Forest Green Rovers.

Jenny Pead, community co-ordinator at Forest Green Rovers, said: “It was great to have the children attend our game with Arsenal and to see many enjoy what would have been their first game of football.

“Schemes like this from the EFL Trust and the generosity of Checkatrade to provide 20 free tickets is a great way to connect with children in the local community and get them engaged with Forest Green Rovers.

“They could be the next generation of FGR supporters.”

Carly Amos from Robinswood Primary School said: “Our children don’t usually get to see football outside of the school playground, so this is a fantastic way to get them to a live match.

“Some of the girls that play for our newly formed team live for football and they were thrilled to get to see Forest Green Rovers and Arsenal play, as well as get the chance to go on the pitch at The New Lawn.

“It’s an experience they can only wish for.”

As part of our community scheme we would like to offer as many teams, groups, school children and accompanying leaders’ free tickets to a match in our Community (North) stand, which is a covered standing terrace.

If any accompanying parents or additional adults or siblings would like to attend then we can offer them half price tickets, and under 11’s go free all season. If you are involved with a group who would be interested in attending a fixture in the 2018/19 season please contact
