We are pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Moore as the new Head Coach for Forest Green Rovers Women.
Neil joins the club having just completed a season at FA Women's Championship side Charlton Athletic as first-team goalkeeping coach.
His previous experience includes spells with the Wales national side, Bath City, Everton Women and Bristol City WFC, and various academy and development centres.
Tom Needham will revert back to his role within the coaching team alongside Dave Francis, who will also continue as a coach for the side.
Moore said: "I am delighted for this opportunity to be part of Forest Green Rovers Women. I am looking forward to the forthcoming season which will hopefully be a successful one. The challenge ahead excites me and Tom, David and myself are looking to help improve the players and drive the team forward."
David Hennessy, Head of Women's Football, added: "We had many applicants for the Head Coach role both locally, nationally and internationally. Neil came highly recommended by Charlton Athletic and has spent much of his time in Women's Football.
"Tom did a great job to see out the season for us. However, we always said that if there were a replacement, they would have to be better than Tom. They would also have complimentary coaching styles while allowing Tom and other coaches and players within the team to develop. Neil ticks all those boxes for players and coaches alike."
Rich Hughes, Director of Football, said, "The football club would like to thank Tom for leading the team through the remainder of the season, finishing the season well. The aim now turns towards next season, and ensuring that the club is competing towards promotion.
"We believe that bringing in Neil to work with the existing coaching team of Tom Needham and Dave Francis will provide us with a good platform to achieve this. We will continue to progress our work around Women’s and Girls football to help us achieve success for the football club, and this appointment is a positive step.
"There will be opportunities to reshape the playing squad for the 2022/23 season, and hopefully the open sessions will help us accomplish our aims."
FGR Women fixtures for the SWRFL Premier League, Vitality Women’s FA Cup and Gloucester Cup are yet to be announced but we look forward to seeing supporters watch what promises to be some exciting league matches this year.
