FGR wishes to recognise the passing of one of our most dedicated and passionate supporters, Phil Doble.

Phil was a Committee Member of FGR Supporters Club, sharing the duties of a growing organisation, always providing good advice and willingness to help out. He was the Supporters Representative on the FGR Board, raising questions behalf of SC Members and he made huge contributions to the FGR Women, the organisation of flag wavers at home games, wrote countless witty previews of opposition clubs for the SC website and often acted as spokesperson at Ambassadors meetings. All of these things and so much more.

For Saturday’s game against York City (5.30pm KO), the FGR Supporters Club are organising a minute’s applause in the 67th minute of the game, to celebrate the 67 years of his life and show our appreciation. We invite all supporters to join us in the minute's applause.

Dane Vince, CEO said: “I had the privilege of working with Phil over a number of years, including regular meetings with the Supporters Club, discussions on disabled facilities at Eco Park and at FGR Board meetings, where he was the Supporters representative. He worked on wide range of other areas within the club, helping where he could and bring his passion for doing things 'Another Way'. He was always keen and passionate, a pleasure to work with, a friend and a true supporter of FGR.”
