Forest Green Rovers are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former director Martin Anns, who died on 21st August 2026 at age 67.
Martin served as a director of Forest Green Rovers for ten years alongside his wife Jenny, during the chairmanship of the late Trevor Horsley.
He served as Director of Football during his time on the board and was particularly passionate about making football accessible to all, playing an active role in promoting Kids Go Free matches.
Martin and Jenny were granted Life Membership in 2015 in recognition of their dedication to the club, and though the family moved to Warwickshire in 2010, FGR remained close to Martin's heart until the end.
Jenny will be attending Saturday's match against Gateshead on 12th September, and the club will be marking the occasion with a minute's applause in the 67th minute in Martin's memory.
Everyone at Forest Green Rovers sends their deepest condolences to Jenny and the wider Anns family at this very sad time.
Martin will be remembered with great affection by all who knew him.

"Martin Anns was a highly respected director of Forest Green Rovers during the Trevor Horsley era. Together with his wife Jenny, they served on the Board of Directors at a time when the club established itself in the top division of non-league football, as is now the National League. It was a busy period when the club underwent constitutional changes and was planning for a much-improved stadium, The New Lawn, the Rovers' current home ground.
Martin was a very popular figure, well known locally as a director of Stroud-based Philip Ford and Son, undertakers. He was very passionate about his association with the club and kept up his keen interest after the family moved to Warwickshire in 2010.
FGR appreciates Martin's years of service for Rovers, which helped put the 'little club on the hill' on the national football map.
