Forest Green secured all three points and a league double of Yeovil after a goal from Temi Babalola and an own goal from former Rovers loanee Jed Ward.
Harvey Bunker was shown red after a second yellow card in the 66th minute.
Yeovil made four changes following the sending off of Bunker, to put Rovers under pressure; however, Rovers weathered the storm and came back to GL6 with all three points.
It was a frantic start at Huish Park, with both teams struggling to gain control of the ball in the opening five minutes. Forest Green Rovers had the first meaningful attack of the half when Jayden Clarke forced an early corner.
Tom Knowles nearly had the ball in the back of the net two minutes later, only for his own teammate Jili Buyabu to block it off the line, with the offside flag then raised.
Rovers opened the scoring when Temi Babalola secured his fourth goal of the season. Clarke played a superb through ball to the onrushing Buyabu, whose cross was met by Babalola, smashing it past the outstretched Jed Ward.
Harvey Greenslade thought he had the hosts level in the 39th minute after a flick-on from Aaron Jarvis, but the assistant referee’s flag was raised, and the goal was chalked off.
Yeovil Town started brighter after the break, creating a flurry of chances in the opening ten minutes. However, Clarke had an excellent opportunity to double the lead in the 55th minute, but he failed to convert a drilled cross from Kyle McAllister.
Jayden Clarke was at the heart of the second goal on the hour mark. Buyabu smashed a ball into the area, which Clarke directed goalwards. It was blocked by a Yeovil defender and ricocheted off former Rovers loanee Ward, allowing the ball to trickle into the back of the net.
Harvey Bunker was shown a second yellow card in the 66th minute after a cynical challenge brought his evening in Somerset to an end. Yeovil boss Billy Rowley reacted five minutes later by making four changes in an attempt to turn the tide. FGR gaffer Robbie Savage responded with a switch of his own to shore things up.
On-loan defender Abraham Kanu rallied the defence and helped withstand the Yeovil pressure. Harry Isted made a fantastic save in the 84th minute to deny Tavhon Campbell, preserving Rovers’ two-goal cushion and securing all three points.
