Rovers beaten at the death by The Lambs
Forest Green Rovers suffered a late defeat on the road at Tamworth yesterday evening.
Both teams created chances during the first half, with good opportunities coming from the wide areas. However, it remained goalless at the break.
Chibby Nwoko and Kyle McAllister both had great openings early in the second half to put Rovers in front.
But it was Dan Creaney who stole all three points for The Lambs after finding the net in the 92nd minute.
It was a fairly frantic start to the opening 10 minutes of the first half, with both sides creating some good chances. Neil Kengni played a dangerous ball across the area for Kyle McAllister, which was deflected behind for a corner in the third minute.
The hosts had a threatening situation only a minute later, with Ben Acquaye playing a quick ball across the Rovers area, which the hosts failed to convert.
Tom Knowles then delivered a lovely ball into the area for D’Mani Mellor, who could only head wide on six minutes.
Jayden Clarke tried his luck from range with a nice dipping effort that Jas Singh had to be quick to tip over the bar.
Tamworth were having some joy down the Rovers' right, Acquaye causing issues for Knowles with several dangerous deliveries.
Oliver Lynch nearly put the hosts ahead after being played in, his effort going wide on 20.
The best chance of the half for the hosts came from a headed effort from Lynch, forcing Isted into a reactionary save.
Rovers started the brighter of the two sides following the break. Chibby Nwoko hit the outside of the upright during a third phase from a corner in the 55th minute.
Kyle McAllister had Rovers’ best chance of the game only five minutes later, the Scotsman’s effort being deflected behind for a corner that looked goal-bound.
Oliver Lynch, who was a constant threat for the hosts, went close only two minutes later, his effort being blocked behind for a corner.
Rovers rolled the dice in the 65th minute with the introduction of Josh Osude and Ashqar Ahmed. Osude was then subbed off only a few minutes later after picking up an injury following a collision.
It was Tamworth who stole all three points in injury time, with Dan Creaney managing to fire past Harry Isted with three Rovers players around him.
Rovers will need to dust themselves off quickly, with another away journey awaiting. Savage’s men travel to Eastleigh for their final game of the month.
