Forest Green Rovers saw eight different scorers in their penultimate pre-season fixture beating Shortwood United 8-0 at the Meadowbank Stadium.
Steve Cotterill went strong again with his starting XI which proved clinical in the first half as Rovers found the net five times.
Marcel Lavinier kicked off the scoring on six minutes bending a low effort into the bottom corner before Teddy Jenks firmly swept home a Jacob Maddox cross on 19 minutes.
Charlie McCann was next up 10 minutes later latching onto a ball sent in behind the Shortwood defence before confidently dispatching past the goalkeeper.
It was 4-0 on 38 minutes when Christian Doidge brilliantly controlled the ball inside the area to tee up Kyle McAllister who drilled his effort low.
Doidge joined the scoring right on half time after he latched onto a through ball and made no mistakes finding the bottom corner making it 5-0 at the break.
Rovers didn’t take long to find there scoring boots in the second half as on 53 minutes Tyrese Omotoye wriggled inside the area before finding the top corner with a curling effort.
Emmanuel Osadebe got his name on the scoresheet just after the hour mark with a smart finish to flick the ball past the ‘keeper and into the far corner.
Rovers fans got their first glimpse at summer signing Liam Sercombe who returned from a short spell out with injury and on 82 minutes completed the scoring following up a Sam Russell save to volley home.
Cotterill and his side have one final pre-season match on Saturday August 3rd as we travel to AFC Totton to complete our National League preparations.
