Forest Green Rovers claimed all three points with a stoppage-time winner against 10-man Yeovil on New Year’s Day at The New Lawn.
Kofi Shaw scored the opening goal of the game in the 38th minute after his right-footed curling effort was already sneaking into the bottom corner before Jamie Robson’s effort to clear put it into the back of the net.
The goalscorer, Shaw, was shown a second yellow card in the 75th minute as he conceded a penalty with a high foot on Jamie Robson.
Kyle McAllister stepped up and drilled it hard and low into the bottom right corner past the outstretched glove of Ollie Wright to equalise for the hosts.
Deep into stoppage time, Ryan Inniss scored the crucial winner after he poked home a scramble in the box to win the fixture for Rovers.
Kyle McAllister had the first real opportunity in the 24th minute as a counter-attack broke with Liam Sercombe threading a pass through to the winger whose effort was marginally wide of the left upright.
Jed Ward came to the rescue in the 29th minute as Sean McGuirk’s effort was heading for the top corner but he calmly tipped over the top.
Tom Knowles had an effort early in the second half after Yeovil gave the ball away in their defensive third but his attempt was fired over the crossbar.
After the red card to Shaw, Rovers dominated the game with several attempts towards Wright’s goal.
Adam May came close to grabbing the winner in the 81st minute as he whipped an effort goalwards but a magnificent flying save kept the score level.
Just moments later substitute Harry Cardwell headed just over from a May-delivered corner in close fashion.
Seconds into additional time, Sercombe unleashed a mighty effort on target, headed away by a Yeovil defender.
Inniss' late strike - his second of the campaign - proved vital as we took all three points. We're back in action on Saturday afternoon in the FA Trophy when we take on Chorley FC.
