Stockport County inflicted a disappointing 3-0 defeat on Rovers at The New Lawn.
Steve Cotterill made two changes from the Rovers side that lost away at to Doncaster last weekend.
Jordon Garrick made his first start this season and Fankaty Dabo replaced Dominic Thompson.
Rovers started the game brightly as they kept Stockport at bay for the first 15 minutes defending with intent.
Vicente Reyes had little to do with a vocal Good Friday south stand behind him.
The game quickly got away from Rovers in the first half with Stockport County midfielder Callum Camps firing into the top right corner from 25 yards after 19 minutes.
Rovers didn’t respond quickly enough from the Stockport opener with the opposition hitting again nine minutes later.
After a well-worked move on the left-hand side, they found Rico Richards free in the box to smash the ball into Vicente Reyes’ left corner.
The Chilean was called into action again on 33 minutes keeping the score down at 2-0.
A strong one-on-one save against Stockport’s number nine Paddy Madden after he found himself through on goal was a superb stop.
Rovers had a lot of work to do in the second half, especially with the wind against them.
County further showed why they are top of the league as they notched another to make it 3-0 on 51 minutes.
County’s Connor Evans shot deflected off the unfortunate Jamie Robson to give the Hatters a strong lead.
Thompson and Reece Brown were brought on with the game reaching 62 minutes, replacing Dabo and Kyle McAllister.
Brown tried making something happen after a good turn and decent run with the game hitting 80 minutes.
Attention will turn to Crewe on Easter Monday where Rovers will look to return to winning ways.
