Rovers travel South West on Easter Monday

April 5th 2026Ben Brown

Forest Green Rovers travel to Cornwall tomorrow afternoon to take on Truro City in the National League.

Rovers put in a ruthless performance at The New Lawn on Good Friday, seeing off Brackley Town 4-0.

Goals from D’Mani Mellor, Kyle McAllister, Jili Buyabu and Laurent Mendy earned Robbie Savage’s side all three points.

Ahead of Easter Monday’s clash, here is everything you need to know about our opponents.

The Opposition: Truro City

Nickname: ‘The Tinners’

League Position: 24th

It has been a tough season in the National League for Truro City, whose relegation back to the National League South was confirmed on Good Friday. A 1-0 defeat at Huish Park to Yeovil Town means the club go down with four league games remaining.

The Tinners were promoted to the National League last season, after a dramatic promotion race saw the club go up as Champions of the National League South on the final day of the season. Several teams had the chance of winning the title that day, but a 5-2 win over St Albans City got the club over the line.

The two sides met back at the end of December, where the spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw at The New Lawn. Rovers took the lead through Jili Buyabu, but a Cole Deeming strike for the visitors earned them a point.

Despite relegation, the Tinners will want to finish their campaign on a positive note and attempt to move themselves off the bottom of the table.

The Manager- John Askey

John Askey is the current man in the dugout for Truro City.

Askey was appointed as the Tinners Manager back in June 2024, with the club being one of the favourites to be relegated from the National League.

However, a sensational campaign for City saw them end the 2024/25 season as Champions, becoming the first Cornish club to play in England’s fifth tier.

The 61-year-old was named National League South Manager of the Season for the club’s success.

Despite a lower league position throughout the campaign, the club have stuck by Askey and will look to bounce straight back next season.

Paragraph Break

Player To Watch- Luke Jephcott

Despite a disappointing campaign for the club, Luke Jephcott has had a solid season for the Tinners.

The striker has found the back of the net on eight occasions this season, making him the club’s top scorer.

A graduate of Plymouth Argyle’s Academy, the 26-year-old had a good stint of playing in the EFL for Argyle, Swindon Town and Newport County.

The striker also had a spell up in Scotland, where he played for St. Johnstone in the SPL.

A forward who is dangerous in and around the box, Rovers will need to remain aware of Jephcott’s quality.
