Forest Green Rovers will be looking to make it consecutive National League victories when they take on Solihull Moors at The New Lawn on Saturday afternoon.

Two quick-fire goals from Harry Whitwell and Kyle McAllister saw Rovers come from behind to defeat Southend last weekend.

That result leaves Rovers fourth in the league table, just one point off top.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash, here is everything you need to know about our opponents.

The Opposition- Solihull Moors:

Nickname: ‘The Moors’

League Position: 13th

Solihull have had a mixed start to their campaign, finding themselves currently in mid-table.

They had a poor start to the season, not managing a win in their opening seven league games.

That run included a 2-2 draw to Rovers on the opening day of the season.

Second-half goals from Christian Doidge and Nick Haughton put Rovers in front, but a James Clarke strike 15 minutes from time meant the points were shared.

Since picking up their first victory at the start of September away at Boston, the Moors have climbed up the table with some impressive wins.

Wins away at York and at home to Scunthorpe United are two stand-out results which have helped the club move clear of the bottom four.

Solihull are in their 10th season as a National League side, after achieving promotion back in 2016 from the National League North.

They have been consistent performers at the level and close to promotion into the football league on three occasions.

These include finishing runners-up in the 2018/19 season, just three points off champions Leyton Orient.

They have also reached the National League Play Off final twice, losing out to Grimsby and Bromley in the 2021/22 and 2023/24 seasons, respectively.

The Manager- Chris Millington

Chris Millington is the man in the dugout currently for Solihull Moors.

Millington was appointed at the start of October after the club parted company with former manager Matt Taylor in September.

The 50-year-old had previously been in charge of Halifax, where he enjoyed a successful three seasons, which included an FA Trophy victory in 2023.

Since his appointment, the club have picked up 14 points from eight league games.

Millington will be hoping his side can add to that when they take on Rovers.

Player to Watch- Jacob Wakeling

Forward Jacob Wakeling has had an impressive individual National League campaign so far.

The striker has scored seven goals in 12 appearances after joining the club in the Summer.

The 24-year-old signed for Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee back in 2023, but failed to score in his eight appearances for the club.

After a season on loan at Gillingham, the West Brom youth product departed Peterborough at the start of September.

A player who has hit the ground running at the Moors, Rovers will need to keep a close eye on Wakeling in and around the box.

Rovers are unbeaten against the Moors in their last five meetings and will be looking to continue that run tomorrow afternoon!
