Matchday Programme
January 7th 2025FGR Media

It’s a third game at The New Lawn in a week as Forest Green Rovers welcome Dagenham & Redbridge for our National League clash.

Our last encounter with the Daggers in 2017 was memorable as goals from Keanu Marsh-Brown and Christian Doidge saw Rovers 2-0 winners booking a spot at Wembley for in the National League play-off final.

Ahead of the Daggers trip to Nailsworth, here is everything Rovers fans need to know about our opponents.

THE OPPOSITION - DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE

The Daggers have been on a tough patch of form winning just three of their last 10 matches in the National League which sees them currently sit in 15th.

But the success of their season has come in the FA Cup as they have currently reached the Third Round of the competition.

A confident 5-1 win at Leiston in the Fourth Qualifying Round set up a First Round tie at League Two’s Crewe Alexandra in which they managed a 1-0 win.

The Daggers went on to stun a high-flying AFC Wimbledon in the Second Round setting up a tasty away tie at Championship side, Millwall in the Third Round.

IN THE DUGOUT - LEWIS YOUNG

After indifferent form, Ben Strevens was relieved of his duties as manager following their Boxing Day defeat to Braintree Town.

In his place, assistant manager and ex-Forest Green player, Lewis Young has stepped in taking charge of their New Year’s Day win over Ebbsfleet United.

Young joined Rovers on a one month loan from Burton Albion in 2011 making just a single appearance for the club.

His career path also saw him feature for teams such as Hereford United (now Hereford FC), Yeovil Town, Northampton Town, Aldershot Town and Crawley Town.

PLAYER TO WATCH - DION PEREIRA

Our visitors haven’t struggled for goals this season and that shows with the most productive player being Luton Town loanee, Dion Pereira.

The 25-year-old has racked up 10 goals and six assists in all competitions for the Daggers.

It’s his second loan spell with the club after he spent the second half of the 23/24 season at Victoria Road bagging three goals and four assists in 17 games.
