VsMansfield (A)

May 6th 2022James Williams

Forest Green head north to take on Mansfield Town at the OneCall Stadium in the final game of the 2021/22 campaign tomorrow.

Rovers will be hoping to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat to Harrogate Town as they look to snatch the League Two title from leaders Exeter City.

The hosts meanwhile head into the clash with their season in the balance as the Stags can be promoted automatically but could also miss out on the play-offs all together.

WHAT WE SAID:

“We were disappointed on Saturday with the performance,” started head coach Rob Edwards.

“You can count on one hand really the times where we’ve dropped our levels (this season), but what we have done is reacted well after those bad performances.

“We owe it to everyone to finish the season as well as we can. It’s a really big game, Mansfield have a lot to play for and so do we. If things go right and go a certain way we could win a league title.

“We’ve got to go and take the opportunity and give it absolutely everything.”

WHAT THEY SAID:

Nigel-Clough-Mansfield

“Its certainly not a case of them (Forest Green) coming and being half way to the beach, they’ll be desperate to try and win the league,” said Nigel Clough.

“We missed an opportunity on Monday so we really don’t want to miss another one because they do not come very often.

“It’s a very exciting end to the season for everyone. With Exeter playing Port Vale, Forest Green needing a win and us needing a point, it will be an incredibly exciting final day.”

TEAM NEWS:

Rovers have no new fresh injury concerns heading to Nottinghamshire.

Matty Stevens is the only absentee, who begins his recovery from an ACL injury.
