Match Preview | Boreham Wood (A)

All the information on 'The Wood'

February 19th 2026Ben Brown

Forest Green Rovers will look to return to winning ways this weekend as they travel to Meadow Park to take on Boreham Wood.

Rovers suffered their third straight defeat last Saturday as Carlisle United came away from The New Lawn with a 3-1 victory.

An improved second-half performance from Robbie Savage’s side provides promise for Rovers fans heading into Saturday’s encounter.

Ahead of tomorrow’s clash, here is everything you need to know about our opponents

 The Opposition: Boreham Wood

League Position: 4th

Nickname: ‘The Wood’

Boreham Wood have had a superb campaign to date, currently sitting in fourth place in the National League table. They had a solid opening month of the season, followed by an unbeaten September that included five wins in seven games, which saw them fly up the table.

The Wood have continued that form throughout the season, picking up several impressive victories and being a tough opposition to beat. They have, however, lost three of their last five league games, so Rovers will view this as good a time as any to take on the South-Hertfordshire club.

It is the Wood’s first season back in the National League after achieving promotion from the National League South via the play-offs. The club bounced back at the first attempt after dropping out of the National League the season prior.

The two sides met back in October at The New Lawn, with Rovers coming away with all three points. A Jili Buyabu strike and a Harvey Bunker penalty saw Rovers win 2-1. Robbie Savage will be hoping for a similar result tomorrow afternoon!

Paragraph Break

The Manager: Luke Garrard

Luke Garrard is the current man in the dugout for Boreham Wood.

Garrard is in his second spell as the Wood’s Manager, having managed the club for just shy of a decade from 2015 to 2024.

The 40-year-old departed the club after their relegation from the National League, but would return less than six months later after his replacement Ross Jenkins was sacked.

Garrard would guide the club straight back to the National League via the Play-Offs, further enhancing his status as a club legend.

He will be hoping his side can continue their impressive season so far and pick up another valuable three points.

Player To Watch: Zak Brunt

Winger Zak Brunt has had an impressive season so far for the Wood, since joining the club in the Summer.

Brunt originally joined on a season-long loan from League Two side Barnet before that move was made permanent in November for a club-record fee.

The 24-year-old has found the back of the net on 12 occasions this season in the National League in 35 appearances.

This includes four goals in his last three games, highlighting how the winger is on a strong run of goalscoring form.

A player with real quality, Rovers will need to be aware of Brunt’s threat in and around the penalty area.
