Following last week’s announcement that all professional football be postponed until Friday, April 3 at the earliest, Forest Green Rovers have voluntarily stopped training ground activity for this week.
“All the official messages we were receiving said there needs to be a sensible approach to how we operate,” said Director of Football Richard Hughes.
“As a club, we thought that giving the players the time off away from the training ground would be the best way to prevent any possible infection.
“The players are all healthy and well, and were ready for action on Friday until the news of the postponement broke.
“They will make the most of the time off and have a short break to rest up, though they’ve got individualised fitness plans to keep them ticking over until Monday, March 23.”
The postponement will also include the FGR Academy, who will be returning home until further notice.
