Forest Green Rovers have entered two pies into the 2019 British Pie Awards, which are being held in Melton Mowbray this Friday.
The club has two pies shortlisted in the Sports Pie category and the new Vegan Pie category, after the club’s iconic Q Pie was ‘highly commended’ in the vegetarian category of the 2017 awards.
The Q Pie features a Quorn and leek filling with a creamy béchamel sauce and has been entered this year alongside the new sweet potato, chick pea and spinach curry pie, which is being trialled at the club this spring. Both are made by hand at the club by head chef Jade Crawford and front of house and kitchen support Mandy Woodward.
FGR are likely to be going up against Morecambe FC at the awards the day before the two sides meet on the pitch this Saturday, as The Shrimps have enjoyed plenty of success at the British Pie Awards over recent years, including winning the Pie of the Year award in 2011, 2014 and 2016.
