Head of Women's Football Joe Manns believes a string of wins is just around the corner, with FGR Women hosting St Austell on Sunday.

Rovers are off the back of two frustrating draws, where they outperformed both Sherborne Town and Marine Academy Plymouth in consecutive weeks, but were forced to settle for a point in both.

While results haven't been perfect, Manns is confident that Rovers will soon go on a good run if they maintain their current performance levels.

“We’re playing really well," he said. "The performances recently have been fantastic but we haven’t got the points we’ve deserved - and that game [against MAP] was another prime example of that.

“We had 75%, 80% of the ball, dominated possession, loads of final third entries, loads of set pieces, so to only score the one goal was tough.

“75% of the performances at the moment are perfect, it’s just that little final touch. Once that clicks, it’s going to be really good.”

Rovers have their third home game in a row at Hartpury this weekend, with seventh-placed St Austell the visitors.

The Christmas break will be welcome given the recent hectic schedule, but Manns is keen to head into the interval on the back of a good result.

“It’s felt like a long period of games that we’ve had," he said. "We’ve had basically a game a week.

“St Austell will have a long journey up to us, but we know it’ll be tough. Every single game has been tough and this is one that could go either way.

“We need to build on the momentum, the positive performances and eventually the points will come. There can’t be such an imbalance like we’re seeing at the moment - it’ll even itself out eventually.”
