Forest Green Rovers return to The New Lawn tomorrow night to take on Tamworth in the National League.
Rovers will be looking to make it three consecutive league victories after defeating Aldershot 3-2 in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.
Manager Robbie Savage will also make his return to the dugout after serving his one-match touchline ban in Saturday’s win.
Ahead of tomorrow night’s clash, here is everything you need to know about our opponents.
The Opposition: Tamworth
Nickname: ‘The Lambs’
League Position: 11th
Tamworth have made a solid start to this season, currently sitting in mid-table in the division. Despite a difficult opening month, the Lambs finished September in impressive form and continued that momentum in October, helping them climb up the league table. It is Tamworth’s second season back in the National League, after achieving promotion from the National League North in the 2023/24 campaign. The Lambs achieved back-to-back promotions after that title-winning season, as the club were crowned Southern League Premier Division Central Champions on goal difference the year prior. In their first season back at the level, the club finished a respectable 10th in the National League, just four points outside the playoff places.
In The Dugout: Andy Peaks
Andy Peaks is the current man in the dugout for Tamworth.
Peaks was appointed as The Lambs Manager back in. In 2022, after leaving Rushden and Diamonds to join the Midlands side.
The club has seen an incredible rise under Peaks’ leadership, achieving successive promotions in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons to see the club reach the National League.
The 54-year-old signed a new contract midway through last season, and it was announced that he would be managing the club on a full-time basis.
Peaks will be hoping his side can reverse last season’s result tonight when they return to The New Lawn.
Player To Watch: Kennedy Digie
Defender Kennedy Digie has made an impressive start to this season’s National League.
The central defender has been an ever-present at the heart of Tamworth’s defence so far this campaign, playing and starting all 17 games so far.
The 28-year-old has also found the back of the net on four occasions, highlighting how he is a danger in both boxes.
Digie joined the club at the start of the 2024/25 season and has been crucial in Tamworth’s consistent performances in the league.
Strong at the back and a defender who likes to chip in at the other end, Rovers will need to keep an eye on the defender.
