Forest Green Rovers will be making a donation of £4,500 to Nailsworth Primary School as a thank you to the school for its assistance in offering additional parking spaces for matchdays at The New Lawn.
The money raised has come from fans using the school car park and the park and ride operated at the local Renishaw site, for matchdays during the 2018-2019 season.
Both of these are only possible thanks to the kind support from Nailsworth Primary School, Renishaw and Cotswold Green Buses.
As a result, the children at the school have benefited with new equipment, including a trampoline, to help keep them more active.
Dane Vince, FGR general manager, said: “We have successfully managed our second season in the EFL and had our biggest league game with over 4,500 to watch us play Exeter City.
"Operating these car parks is key part of our matchday plans, minimising the impact on the local community and also raising funds for Nailsworth Primary School.
"I would like to say a big thank you to Nailsworth Primary School, Renishaw and Cotswold Green for all their fantastic support."
Mr Vince Southcott, Nailsworth Primary School head teacher, added: “It has been another great year working with FGR. We have developed a fabulous link with the FGR Academy squad with the players regular visiting school and working with the children.
"Also the growing fan base is filling the car park every game, which is providing fantastic resource for the school children from the proceeds.
"This year we have invested the money in another professional trampoline – all the children even the non-sporty ones simply love trampolining. Having another trampoline is providing double the fun.
"We continue to look for more fantastic experiences for our children; thank you for parking with us and supporting FGR as it really makes these experiences happen.”
Chris Pockett, Renishaw head of communications, commented: “We employ over 2,400 people at our five sites in the south of Gloucestershire and we work hard to help enrich and support our local communities, whether through charitable donations, event sponsorship, or initiatives such as gifting our Woodchester site for Forest Green Rovers matchday parking.”
