New signing Callum Jones is looking forward to being part of a possession-heavy FGR side next season.
The young midfielder, who has signed for Rovers on a season-long loan from Hull City, is a creative midfield player who loves having the ball at his feet.
The style of play that Head Coach Duncan Ferguson is looking to implement for this upcoming season suits Jones down to a tee.
"A big factor in me joining the club was the gaffer saying that he wants to dominate the ball," said Jones. "He wants you to be fearless and to get on the ball. It's an enjoyable way of playing football. Of course you'll make mistakes, but when you've got the ball you can have fun and be creative.
"I want to get on the ball as much as I can and dictate the play. I can get in amongst it too. I understand it's a tough league and that you need that physical side.
"I also want to contribute as well with goals and assists to help the team be successful."
While he was announced as a Rovers player on Friday afternoon, Jones has been with his new FGR team-mates since Wednesday. He was present during the two days of testing at Hartpury College, while he was on the grass with the ball at his feet at Stanley Park on Friday.
"When me and the gaffer spoke, I stressed that I wanted to be in from day one (of pre-season), Jones explained. "The ideas that he puts across to the players - I wanted to be involved in that.
"It's hard when you come to a club late and you're playing catch-up. Being involved from day one, bonding and building relationships early doors with the lads is really important to me."
As well as the style of play, working under Duncan was also a big pull for Jones. The 22-year-old was impressed by the pitch Duncan gave over the phone when he was convincing the midfielder to join the club.
He said: "I had a couple of chats with the gaffer and he shared his ideas - we had a good chat.
"He told me his ideas for me and for the club in general. I think it's going to go in the right direction this season, for me personally.
"Dunc is full of jokes. He seems really genuine and he's excited about the football club. He wants to do the right things and play football the right way, so I'm excited to work with him."
