Forest Green Rovers start the New Year at The innocent New Lawn tomorrow, ad Harry Kewell’s Oldham Athletic visit Nailsworth.
The Lactics will be looking to re-find a recent run of form which saw them put four past League leaders Newport County.
Here is all you need to know ahead of the game:
What we said:
“It’s about who turns up on the day. If your side are really at it and want to work hard and run, you’ve got a great chance to beat anyone in this league,” explained Mark Cooper.
“Oldham are unpredictable. They’ve got a lot of talented flair players who can run past you and do step overs.
“Oldham won’t turn up and give us points.”
What they said:
“We’re looking forward to the game. It’s the start of a New Year,” said Latics boss Harry Kewell.
“We have to be at our standards, and if we are then we can challenge anybody.
“If we can stop Forest Green from scoring that would be fantastic because they’re a free flowing team. There will be chances.”
Kane Wilson remains the only injured member of the Rovers squad, though he is recovering well.
Key Player: Dylan Bahamboula
The Congo international joined Oldham on a one-year deal, his first experience of English professional football.
Born in France and capped at U20 level, Bahamboula has had a number of clubs already which started with AS Monaco before a spell at Dijon in the top-flight.
A move to Romania followed in 2018, and a year later a switch to Algeria came with CSC. His most recent club was at Tsarsko Selo in Bulgaria.
Bahamboula has the third most assists in League Two this season with nine, and also has the second most dribbles in the division.
Last time we met:
A late strike from George Williams poured cold water on Oldham Athletic, as they salvaged a point in the grips of Storm Dennis.
Against the side he suffered his leg break against on the opening game of the season, the Welshman scored with a minute of normal time remaining to cancel out Gevaro Nepomuceno’s earlier goal.
The two sides have only met four times, with three ending level.
Neither side has scored more than one against the other in a single match, with the only win coming courtesy of Taylor Allen’s strike on the opening day of last season.
The Latics will be looking to get their first ever victiry over Rovers in this weekend’s meeting.
