Innovation award nomination

The club is delighted to be nominated in the EFL's Innovation Award category for the 2023-24 season.

Our pitch has been talked about positively in previous seasons for its sustainability and this season is no different.

The club has been nominated alongside Championship clubs Norwich City and Swansea City.

The 'Pee to Pitch' scheme adopted this campaign has used NSI's space mission-inspired Closed Loop technology to convert fans' urine into clean water and a concentrated fertiliser product.

Head groundsman Nick Johnstone, said: "It is a fantastic achievement for the club to be nominated for the EFL innovation award for our pee to pitch scheme.

"We already recycle rainwater and irrigation water that makes its way through our drainage system and the pee to pitch scheme converts urine into clean water and fertiliser.

"This has allowed us to further reduce our consumption of mains water as well as contributing to the overall health of our pitch.

"We are really pleased with how the pitch has performed this season in challenging conditions."
