Forest Green Rovers, The New Lawn are delighted to announce that it has achieved the Greener Arena Outstanding Certification 2024.
The certification was achieved following a rigorous assessment process by not-for-profit sustainability specialists A Greener Future (AGF). The assessment involves detailed analysis of areas of sustainability such as transport, energy and power, waste, water usage, local environment, CO2 and food and beverages and involves an on site visit by qualified AGF assessors.
"Outstanding" signifies a truly leading and inspirational arena. These are exceptional arenas which have significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions, have excellent travel, transport, food, water and waste management programmes, protect and enhance the environment and - with sustainability at the core of their operations, communications and purpose - push the very boundaries of what it means to be a green arena.
Forest Green Rovers have been described by FIFA as 'the greenest football club in the world'. Key areas that stand out are Local Community; the Community Trust organises a number of progammes which include Community Cookalongs, Premier League Primary Stars programme, Premier League Kicks programme, FGR Ambassador scheme, Soccer Camps and Eco Tours of the venue.
Local Environments: the pitch at the venue is an organic pitch and no pesticides are used to manage and grow the grass on the pitch. Food & Beverage: the food served at the club is 100% vegan with all the football team and staff eating vegan food whilst they work at the club. The club have demonstrated that sustainability is truly at the core of business! Congratulations - AGF.
