Hundreds of children from within the Nailsworth local area have been given a free Forest Green shirt, in partnership with principal partner Ecotricity.
It’s been proven that youngsters choose their football club around the age of seven, and we want them to show their support for their local team, FGR.
Since 2015, we’ve given out 400 replica Rovers shirts to Year 3 pupils from primary schools in the local area - and this year is no different. After almost 18 months without an unrestricted crowd at The Fully Charged New Lawn, youngsters returned to collect their shirt this autumn.
In addition to their bamboo kit, the child and their parent/guardian each received free ticket to enjoy either the Port Vale or Northampton Town match from our Community Stand, with the hope that their matchday experience will encourage them to continue supporting Rovers.
Sarah Urquhart, Head of FGR Community, said: "Our outreach and relationships with local schools is incredibly important to the work we do at the football club.
"Creating memorable matchday experiences for young children in the local area, meeting the players who are such inspirational role models and witnessing the sea of green & black shirts in the Community Stand really highlights the success of the free shirt giveaway
"We're thankful to Ecotricity for their continued support - and are already looking forward to working on further projects this season."
