Forest Green have completed the signing of former Portsmouth goalkeeper Luke McGee on a two-year deal.
Head coach Mark Cooper fought off interest from several Championship clubs to win the race for McGee’s signature.
And the 24-year-old believes the Club have the required symmetry to match his ambition.
He told the club “I’m delighted to get the deal done and can’t wait to get started and put my roots down. I’ve had positive chats with Head Coach Mark Cooper and FGR are an ambitious club, who meet my objectives.”
Cooper had been tracking McGee since lockdown and was delighted to get the deal over the line, he said: “Luke (McGee) was always our number one target in discussions with Dan Connor (GK Coach) and my staff. He had a good grounding at Tottenham and played at Peterborough and played lots of games for Portsmouth.
“He’s 6ft 4ins, makes good saves and more importantly keeps the ball out of the net. He had interest from the Championship to go in as a number two, but wanted to come to us and play.”
McGee arrived at Portsmouth from Spurs for an undisclosed fee in July 2017, with the keeper making 50 appearances during his first season. He featured four times on loan at Bradford City last season.
